A new global 0.5 degree ancillary data base for JULES (CNJ1.1)

I have generated a set of new global 0.5 degree ancillary data base for JULES, called CNJ 1.1, for the use with the CRU-NECP climate data (version 4) from Nicolas Viovy. These data sets now allows global 0.5 degree JULES simulations 1901-2010, which was previously not possible.

The major new features are a new land cover fractions based on the 1km Global Land Cover Characteristics Data Base Version 2.0 (Loveland et al., 2000) and Ecoclimap 2 (Masson et al., 2003), a new albedo based on 0.05 degree MODIS broadband 1 albedo (Houldcroft et al., 2009), and one year of leaf area index that exactly matches the land cover fraction areas from Ecoclimap 2 (Masson et al., 2003).

A detailed description of the generation of a new ½ degree ancillary data base is available (if you wish to obtain the ferret and fortran code used to generate the data, please contact me). The data are available to the JULES community. To obtain them, please contact me. Also available are an example JULES file to use these data and a driver file.
