Lt Michael Andrews (BA International Relations, 2016)

Lieutenant Michael Andrews (BA International Relations, 2016) wanted to be in the army from a young age and tailored his decision to study International Relations at Leicester to support his career ambitions.

Michael was a Reservist at University and is now serving with the 1st Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment.  Over the last two years, Michael has undertaken training exercises in Nigeria, Uganda and Sierra Leone, and has been deployed on UN Operations to South Sudan as a Force Protection Platoon Commander.

More recently, Michael has been involved in the construction of NHS Nightingale at the ExCel in London in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Michael explains ‘It really was an incredible opportunity to be part of the huge national effort working alongside members of the NHS and contractors from across the country.’

We wish Michael the best of luck with his next posting to the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) Catterick.
